How are those white and yellow lines and crosswalks painted on the roads? They are made with a tool called a road marking machine. This machine has many names, such as floor marking machine, pavement stripping machine, street marking machine, road painting machine, and parking lot marking machine. Today, we’re focusing on a very powerful machine: the thermoplastic paint machine.
What is a Thermoplastic Paint Machine?

A thermoplastic paint machine is a special machine used to paint lines on roads. It’s mainly used to spray various traffic safety signs, like crosswalks, pedestrian lanes, and lane lines. It uses thermoplastic paint, which needs to be heated and melted before it can be applied to the road. Because of this, it usually works with equipment called a hot melt kettle. If you want to paint lines of different widths, you just need to change the marking hopper, and one machine can do the job.

How Does Thermoplastic Marking Work?

When painting lines, you first pour the powdered thermoplastic paint into the hot melt kettle. The kettle then heats the paint to about 180℃ to 210℃, stirring it continuously until it turns into a liquid. Next, this melted paint is put into the thermoplastic paint machine. The machine then evenly applies the paint to the road, creating markings with neat edges, consistent thickness, and beautiful lines. These markings have a strong three-dimensional look, and glass beads are mixed into the paint. These glass beads are semi-embedded in the surface of the marking, reflecting light strongly when car headlights shine on them at night. This makes road signs much clearer, greatly improving safety for night driving.
Thermoplastic Striping Machine for Vibrating Lines: The Special “Noise Lines”

You might have seen bumpy lines on highways that make a “rumble rumble” sound when your car tires drive over them. These are vibrating lines, also known as noise markings. They are about 5 to 7 millimeters high. A thermoplastic striping machine is specifically designed to paint these types of lines. Our vibrating line hot melt marking machine is very smart. It has an advanced program controller and user-friendly control panel, allowing one machine to simultaneously apply both the raised lines and the base lines. It also features a stepless speed walking system, which greatly improves construction efficiency. The shape, height, and spacing of the raised bumps are precise, meeting the requirements of various road conditions and conforming to international standards. These markings are also very strong, resistant to bending, wear, and impact. If you’d like to know the road marking machine price for a road marking machine, feel free to contact us.
Hot Melt Kettle: The Good Partner for Marking Construction
The hot melt kettle is a good partner for the thermoplastic paint machine, and it’s a very important piece of equipment in thermoplastic marking construction. It’s very easy to operate. You first pour some paint into the machine to heat and melt it. When the paint reaches 180 to 200 degrees Celsius, start the agitator and continuously add new paint. When the paint in the kettle reaches 190 to 210 degrees Celsius and all the paint is in a fluid state, the liquid paint can be poured through the discharge port into the thermoplastic paint machine for application. We usually classify hot melt kettles by power into mechanical and hydraulic types, both of which come in single-cylinder and double-cylinder versions. The main difference between single and double cylinders is the capacity. Mechanical hot melt kettles usually have single-direction stirring, while hydraulic ones have dual-direction stirring, which provides better mixing.
YG Machinery sells various types of hot melt marking machines, including hand-push hot melt marking machines, automatic hot melt marking machines, and the vibrating line hot melt marking machines mentioned earlier. We also offer a range of supporting equipment, such as hot melt kettles, marking hoppers, water lining machines, primer machines, and pneumatic cleaners. We can meet all your road marking needs.
